Ray Nunez

Originally from Honduras, he has two children, Angel and Elisa, who are both in Europe pursuing their studies and charting their own paths. Rainel and his partner, Andrea, enjoy kayaking, hiking, trying new food, and catching live music

Rainel is the Vice President of Operations at Sparta Metal Processing, where he leads plant operations at the company's 150,000 sq. ft. facility. He oversees safety, production, and maintenance and reliability, and is focused on building a strong team and a disciplined, measurable operation that recovers the most value from every ton processed.

Rainel began his career as a naval officer in Honduras, where he commanded a 105-foot Coast Guard patrol vessel. He then moved into heavy industry and has managed production plants in Costa Rica, Panama, Brazil, and Spain. He has also managed sales of scrap processing plants for territories across Europe and Latin America. Before joining Sparta Metal Processing in 2026, he served for more than four years as Operations Manager for a scrap recycling operation in South Carolina.

Rainel holds a B.S. in Electrical Engineering from USNA, Class of 2004, and is currently pursuing an M.S. in Project Management and Operations at SNHU
